Don’t Call Me Scarface

There was only ever one model in the frame to play the ubiquitous “Bond Villain” in the FOTO-CLUB “Bondesque” shoots – Mike Hanley. I’ve worked with Mike before so knew him to be a versatile character model but was delighted when he agreed to be “disfigured” by brilliant Make-up Artist Toni Cheshire. Well, he wouldn’t be a Bond Villain without some sort of disfigurement would he? Even the temporary paralysis of one side of his face didn’t put Mike off his stride. A real trooper.

Yes, the scar was entirely fake and provided by MUA Toni.

Sasha: True Britt

I selected 2 female models as “Bond Girls” for the “Bondesque” shoots – one a “goodie” and one a “baddie” (sort of). The first was the ever-stunning Sasha who, it was mentioned, bore more than a passing resemblance to Bond girl Britt Ekland

Sasha proved to be equally cool with a firearm and an excellent Bond Girl…

Again, my thanks to Keith for supplying the “weaponry”.

Sometimes the choice of model comes before the shoot concept. I knew I wanted fitness model Mark Hoban to play a James Bond type character at some point and eventually set about making it happen. The “Bondesque” idea was born. More images of the other players in the 2 themed shoots will follow but for now here’s Mark at his Bondish best.

I’m very grateful to Keith for providing the replica Walther PPK and other gun used in this shoot.

A Bit More Bond

Some shoot concepts lodge themselves in my imagination for years before I actually get around to making them happen. Such was the case with the “Bondesque” studio evenings that I ran at FOTO-CLUB  recently. I’d long since decided that model Mark Hoban would make a great James Bond  and when I mentioned the idea to him he was very keen to take part. Luckily, the lovely Sasha also agreed to be our “Bond Girl“.

I ran “Bondesque” over two evenings: the first featured Mark (as Bond), and Sasha. The second evening featured Mike, a very charismatic model I’d worked with before as the “Bond Villain” and Liliana (another favourite at the studio) as the other Bond Girl.

I haven’t edited the images yet (it’s been a busy couple of weeks) but I did manage to plan a sort of sequel – this time on location, complete with a car, and again with Mark as Bond. Here’s the details…

The cost is £90 (£75 for FOTO-CLUB members) and before the event had even been added to my website, half the places had been taken. If you’d like to join us, get in touch.

Making A Bond

Funny how one shoot can lead to another, very different shoot. When I was photographing the gorgeous Sasha recently, it occurred to me that she’d make an amazing “Bond Girl”… and so the basis of the “Bondesque” workshop was born.

Too much to run over a single evening, I’ve decided to run this over two evenings. There’ll be a “Bond” (played by the brilliant Mark Hoban), two Bond girls (one “good”, one “bad” and including Sasha), and a suitably evil villain.

I’m looking forward to this!
